Addiction Assessment

Because the disease of addiction can involve many complex factors, understanding each client’s unique needs is essential to developing a comprehensive plan for detoxification and subsequent treatment. At Ken Seeley Communities, we customize strategies that work specifically for our clients, beginning with an extensive assessment that helps us understand the nature of each client’s medical, physical and psychosocial needs.

Within 24 hours of arriving at our accredited California addiction treatment facility, clients undergo a thorough addiction assessment by meeting with our qualified health professionals. The goal of this assessment is to give us a complete picture of each client’s physical and mental health history, as well as the extent and nature of their substance misuse. It will also allow us to identify any urgent medical issues that require immediate attention.

Psychosocial Evaluation

Addiction is a chronic disease that encompasses both mental and physical components, and successfully treating an addiction involves identifying and treating all the underlying issues that play a role in substance misuse disorders. Conducting a psychosocial evaluation gives us a greater understanding of a client’s health from a psychological perspective so we can develop the correct therapeutic approach.

Medical Evaluation

The medical evaluation component of our addiction assessment is designed to take all aspects of each client’s physical health into consideration.

During our thorough assessment of a client’s medical case, we will examine the following factors:

  • Physical ailments, such as injuries or illnesses
  • Medications
  • Psychological disorders, such as depression, anxiety or insomnia
  • Allergies
  • Family medical history
